| The U.S. Department of Transportation has given a tentative approval to grant antitrust immunity to American Airlines and four additional Oneworld Partners to form a global alliance. The four other carriers are British Airways, Iberia Airlines, Finnair and Royal Jordanian Airlines. With this antitrust immunity, these carriers will work more closely to coordinate international operations and provide lower fares! | |||||
 March 1 will bring a whole new definition to congestion at JFK airport in New York. March 1 is the day that New York's John F Kennedy International airport will shut down one of its four runways for construction. The FAA is forecasting delays equivalent to those seen during the height of summer travel. The plan is to resurface the runway in tougher concrete, install new lighting and reconstruct taxiways which should help to reduce some delays at JFK in the future. With this construction, airlines are reducing flights and building in extra time into their schedules. The runway is scheduled to re-open July 2. Flight delays due to this construction are expected to affect schedules across the U.S. Check with one of our agents to see what alternate routes are available for your itinerary. |

| Airport parking facilities are increasing park rates. Many airports announced increases last year, Minneapolis-St. Paul; Los Angels, Honolulu; Little Rock National, etc. At Midway, a $1 increase will apply for long-term parking (7 hours or more) at the hourly and daily garages, and the 24-hour maximum will increase by $1, to $29. At Cleveland Hopkins Airport –Fast Park offers covered parking for $5.50 per day through March 31, 2010. At Port Columbus, you can prepay your parking and pay $4.60 per day with FastTrak. Don't forget to ask your Traveline agent for a discount coupon you may apply to parking at your airport. |
